The Wolverines were College Div. Champs this Fall! ABOUT OUR LEAGUES... Thanks for inquiring about AlphaWolf Basketball Leagues! We have been facilitating basketball leagues since 1991 and have developed a structured program designed for players of all skill levels. Our coaches are parent volunteers or paid AlphaWolf Staff. We do a background check on all coaches through the Michigan State Police and all coaches attend a seasonal training session where league expectations are discussed. We do not accept "hot-head" or "win-at-all-cost" coaches. If you are interested in coaching, contact Geo Thomas at 248-541-4667. We start our season with a 2-day draft where players are evaluated and scouted by our coaches. We then go behind closed doors and coaches draft the first seven players for their teams. The League Director then assigns the remaining 2-3 players. Parents are required to attend a Rules Meeting the following Tuesday where the league Director outlines the season and your questions can be answered. During the season, each team receives 3-4 practices and six games. Practices are usually on Thursdays (at Quarton) or Fridays (at Berkshire). games are at Berkshire or Covington Schools in Birmingham. Coaches are permitted to facilitate their own practices, but attendance is not mandatory for these (although every little bit helps!). The season concludes with playoffs for teams that qualify. WE DO NOT USE HIGH SCHOOL PLAYERS AS REFEREES. WE USE ONLY CERTIFIED MHSAA OFFICIALS! Most local leagues use volunteer officials or high school players. AlphaWolf uses only certified referees who understand the youth league dynamic. Our grade divisions are: ROOKIE (grades 2-3), PREP (gr. 3-4), COLLEGE (gr. 5-6), PRO (gr. 7-8) and LEGENDS (gr. 9-10). we also have an ALL-GIRLS Division for grades 4-6 (on Fridays only). Players must have special permission to play up or play down. If you want an ultra-competitive program for your son or daughter, we are probably not what you are looking for. If you are looking for a competitive program that starts its games on time, has excellent officiating, adult scorekeepers and a highly motivated League Director, we are the place for you! Call us at 248-541-HOOP for more information!
FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS GIRLS BASKETBALL (gr. 4-6) Coach Vickie leads our 4th-6th grade girls every Friday. She offers the right amount of skill instruction and game play as she prepares the girls for middle school basketball. All skill levels are welcome! The first few weeks are skill development sessions. after that, girls are broken up onto teams and games are played. Competitive level is moderate to low. To learn more about Friday Night Lights, contact Coach Vickie at 248-556-6144.
To register for any league or division, call Birmingham Community Ed at 248-203-3800 or visit their website at www.communityed.net. Hope to see you on the court soon! |
